January Birchbox Review

After my December Birbox absolutely knocking it out of the park, I was super excited to see what fun products January had in-store. Unfortunately, I was a little let down by this month’s selections, but nonetheless, everything I chose is listed below.

Here’s a breakdown of what I received in my box:

1. Verb Volume Dry Texture Spray (full size – $20 Value)
2. Kinship Self Smooth 10% Glycolic Resurfacing Serum (6ml deluxe sample)
3. Revive Bath and Shower Oil (9ml travel sample)
4. Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant Mini in Pure Vanilla (sizing unsure)
5. Number 4 Blow Dry Lotion (1 oz deluxe sample)
6. Too Cool for School All-In-One Egg Mellow Cream (15 ml deluxe sample)

Overall, I was a bit disappointed with the selections from this month. I remember taking my customization survey and thinking, “surely there’s more!?” It seemed like every option was a tiny sample, which was such a departure from the previous month!

However…I LOVE Verb and am super excited to try the Verb Volume Dry Texture Spray.

And realistically, the value of that one product pays for the cost of the box so if my girl math is correct, everything else was basically free.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t really lessen my disappointment with this particular box, but it’s something worth noting!

Overall, the January 2025 Birchbox was probably my least favorite that I’ve received, but as a whole, I genuinely really have fun with this beauty subscription, so here’s hoping for better luck next month!

December Birchbox Review

This is my third Birchbox this season and probably my favorite so far! Being able to select the products for your own box is always a plus, but I felt like every category had at least one product that I was genuinely super excited to own/try!

Here’s a breakdown of what I received in my box:

1. Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Cooling Hydration Scalp Mask (full size – $34 value)
2. Lartizy Cream Lipstick in Dusty Rose (full size – $20 value)
3. Floss Beauty Highlighter in Sunset (full size – $20 value)
4. Dryspun Texture Spray (.6oz deluxe sample size)
5. Benefit Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara (deluxe sample size)
6. Korres Santorini Grape Poreless Skin Cream (20ml sample size)

After being slightly underwhelmed by the November box, I was super excited about the product options for the December birchbox!

My personal favorites include the Briogeo Scalp Revival and the Lartizy cream lipstick!

Briogeo is already a brand I love and use and although I had never heard of Laritzy, I’ve already worn the lipstick multiple times. It’s the perfect nude and is so soft and comfy, it wears more like a balm!

I was also super excited to try the Benefit Roller Lash mascara because everyone loves it, but spoiler alert: After trying it out a couple of times, I don’t get the hype.

But I genuinely don’t think there’s a product in this box that I won’t use.

I was probably the least excited by the Korres skin cream, but it’s still a product that I can definitely use!

Overall, I was super impressed by the usability and quality of the products in this box.

And when you think about it in terms of value, one full-size product covers the entire cost of the box and then everything else you get is an added bonus!

In my opinion, Birchboxes customization makes this beauty subscription box worth it. You can choose the products you want, skip the ones you don’t, and hopefully end up with a box you love!

November Birchbox Review

One of the joys of this box is the ability to choose products that you’re genuinely curious to try out. Personally, I tend to gravitate toward makeup items and I love that I practically got a full face of makeup with this box.

Here’s a breakdown of what I received in my box:

2. Wander Beauty Upgraded Lashes Treatment Mascara (full size – $24 value)
3. Dr. Botanicals Regenerating Sleeping Mask (deluxe sample size)

When I was going through and choosing the selections for my box, I was slightly underwhelmed by the number of samples that were included. Seeing them in person definitely helps, because almost all of the “samples” seem almost full-size to me!

My personal favorites include the GrandeBROW brow gel (which I know I’ll use everyday!), the Dr. Botanicals face mask, and the Sunday Riley Good Genes treatment. A full-size of Good Genes retails for $85 so I love that I can try it out before committing to that price!

After swatching, I am least excited about the mineral powder duo.

In the pan, they look so pretty, but they just don’t have much pigmentation and the bronzer is definitely a bit light for me. I think it will make a great eyeshadow base though!

When it comes to these types of boxes, it’s easy to accumulate things in a drawer and never use them, but I definitely love that the products I chose are things that I’ll be able to use in my everyday routine.

October Birchbox Review

This was my first Birchbox in probably 7-8 years, so I really wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of how much it had changed or not.

Back in the day, Birchbox had always been a fun way for me to discover new brands and try new products without a big price commitment. However, I found that many of the products were quite small, weren’t items I necessarily would use, and ultimately, it wasn’t worth it for me to continue.

So when I learned that their process now allows you to select the 4-6 items you receive in your box, I was super excited to give it another try!

Here’s a breakdown of what I received in my box:

1. Living Proof Full Volume & Root Lifting Spray (full size – $32 value)
2. Floss The Concierge Cheek & Lip Tint (full size – $22 value)
3. Kindr Beauty Eyeshadow Cream (sample size)
4. Percy & Reed Strong Hold Hairspray (sample size)

Overall, I found this box to be super fun to open and the ability to now choose your own products makes it super practical! I was able to pick products that I know I will use or was just super curious to try.

And when you look at cost vs value, you’re basically getting back your cost with just one full-size item and the rest is just added value. That’s a total win, if you ask me!

While there were a few sample-size products included, the pot of eyeshadow cream definitely seems like a full-size amount to me and I love that the hairspray size will be perfect for travel.

As an annual member (meaning I’m charged once/year), I get to select all six items in my box. But even as a quarterly member (meaning you get charged per box, four times/year), you get to select 2-3 items in your box.

That being said, I was super excited about the items I selected for my box! Were they the most high-value products? No, but they are all items that I know I’ll use and were still at least 3x the value of what I paid for the box. Thoughts on the 2024 Summer FabFitFun Box

My favorite time of every year is when FabFitFun opens the customization for subscribers. I LOVE shopping through my options to see what I want for my own box.

Usually, there are multiple items in each category that I have to debate between, but this season had some very strong stand-outs that didn’t have me considering anything other than the products I picked above.

That being said, I’m REALLY happy with the products I got in my 2024 Summer FabFitFun box. They are all practical items for everyday use that I can see myself using all Summer long.

My favorites? The sunscreen face mist is perfect for reapplying throughout the day, especially over makeup! I also looooove lip products so the lip tint from Thrive was a huge winner for me.

Biggest letdowns? The Vacation fragrance…isn’t my favorite. It smells a bit too old-lady for my liking. I also don’t love the body oil (this was a mystery item so I didn’t specifically select it) and while I’ll definitely try it, it’s not a product I would ever gravitate toward.

Overall, this box gets a 9/10 from me and I can’t wait to see what fall has in store!

Alltrue Spring Welcome Box Review

This was my first Alltrue box since they came under new ownership so to say that I was excited, but also hesitant, would be a bit of an understatement.

If you don’t know, Alltrue closed its doors well over a year ago, but was recently repurchased and is now under new ownership.

I absolutely LOVED Alltrue back in the day. The quality and usability of its products made it a superior lifestyle subscription box (in my opinion) and one that I genuinely loved receiving.

Because of my past experience, I had REALLY high hopes for their comeback. And I have to say, I was just as impressed as ever.

The thing that I love so much about Alltrue is that they include high-quality products that are practical for everyday life.

For example, I’m going to get SO much use out of the cooking pan, the weekender bag, the mesh totes, and the baking sheets. Those are all great items that will easily incorporate into my everyday living.

I still use so many of the accessories and home goods that I received in boxes 3+ years ago.

And when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck? I truly believe that Alltrue takes the cake!

A lot of times, one item alone makes up for the cost of the ENTIRE box. The value is unmatched!

Lastly, I love the ability to customize and select items in your box.

And while customization is kind of becoming the new norm for subscription boxes, it truly makes the experience so much better when you can select items you know you’re going to love.

So do I think the Alltrue Spring Welcome Box is worth it? 100% yes.

While I did think there were some duds (I don’t know why people would want a fall scarf or autumn-scented candle in spring, but you do you, boo) you can just choose to NOT get those items!

But if you’re looking for a women’s lifestyle subscription box to invest it, I definitely would say that Alltrue should be it.

My Honest Alltrue Box Review: Is It Worth It?

My Hunt for the Best Book Subscription Boxes

If you don’t already know, I am a subscription junkie. From FabFitFun and BoxyCharm, to Ipsy and more, I LOVE trying new ones out and there is nothing like getting that rush of seeing the package waiting at my doorstep, ready for me to tear open.

Anyways, you aren’t here to listen to me ramble about my bad spending habits, you’re here to talk about BOOKS.

I recently rekindled my love for reading and have been spending WAY too many hours browsing bookstores, reading Amazon reviews, and following book accounts on Instagram just to find which book would be my next victim.

But seriously, I was spending more time researching books rather than actually reading them – but isn’t that half the fun?

So I did a ton of research on different book subscription boxes. The majority of the subscriptions are actually full boxes filled with books and swag. These looked fun, but usually cost anywhere from $30-$50/month.

But then I found Book of the Month. It seemed a little simple for my preference, but the price was spot on, the book options were great, and honestly, their branding really appealed to me. After all was said and done, I had to try them out.

Let’s just say, I have not been disappointed.

What Is Book of the Month?

Book of the Month is a monthly subscription service for book lovers! Each month, the BOTM crew selects 5-7 hardcover books including up-and-coming titles, new releases, and even some early releases!

Of those 5-7 books, you select one to be added to your monthly box.

The book(s) usually get shipping within a week and shipping is always free!

It’s a super simple process and is a great way to try out new titles that you might not have considered otherwise.

What Genres Does Book of the Month Have?

When I tell you there is something for everyone, there really truly is! BOTM carries titles from a broad range of genres such as:

• Contemporary fiction
• Literary fiction
• Thriller
• Mystery
• Romance
• Fantasy
• Historical Fiction
• Young Adult
• and more!

What If I Don’t Like The Monthly Selections?

No worries! Each month, they offer a handful of books from their “Members Most Loved” section that you can select from if you aren’t vibing with any of the monthly picks.

What If I Want More Than One Book?

Literally every reader’s biggest problem. HOW DO I CHOOSE!?! Luckily, you don’t have to contain yourself to just one.

BOTM has these things called Add-On’s, which are basically just a giant library of previous BOTM picks. Just go to the section called “All Books” and browse away!

You can add-on up to two additional titles…for an additional $9.99/book. But really, that’s still a total steal compared to a traditional hardcover at a bookstore.

Basically, it’s a monthly book subscription box that you get to cater exactly to YOU.

Can I Skip My Monthly Book?

No matter the reason, you can choose to “skip” any month you’d like. Skipping means that you will not receive a book that month and your credit will roll over to the next month

Just make sure to make your selection or skip by the 6th of
the month. If you do not make your selection of skip by that date, you will be
automatically charged and a credit will be added to your account for you to use
the next month.

What If I Forget to Choose a Book?

It happens to the best of us! If you don’t choose a book by the 6^th of the month, you will still be charged, but the credit can be redeemed the following month!

How Much is Book of the Month?

A monthly BOTM subscription costs $15.99/month. But you can get your first book for only $5 using this link.

When Will My Subscription Ship?

Your BOTM box usually takes 5-7 business days once you’ve selected your books and placed the order.

Keep in mind, shipping can take up to 15 days to states like California and Hawaii.

Cons:

• They don’t always have a great selection for romance readers

Pros:

• It’s a great way to discover new genres and authors you may not have otherwise found
• You’ll occasionally have access to early releases
• The referral program gives you the opportunity to earn tons of free books
• They now offer audiobooks that you can use your credits toward

Overall, Is Book of the Month Worth It?

As an avid reader, I really love the concept of Book of the Month and have been subscribed for almost 3 years.

Book of the Month has allowed me to discover tons of new titles that I probably never would have picked up otherwise. In fact, as a mostly romance reader, I’ve found some of my all time favorite (non romance) books because of Book of the Month.

As a self-proclaimed romance junkie, I find myself skipping a lot of months because they don’t always have great romance options, but it’s not enough of a reason for me to ever want to cancel.

In my opinion, because you can always skip a month, I think Book of the Month is 100% worth it.

TheraBox Review: Is TheraBox Worth It?

As a huge mental health advocate, I had been wanting to try TheraBox for months before finally taking the plunge. And I have to say, this self care subscription box didn’t disappoint.

The quality of items seems great and the retail values are quite impressive considering what you actually pay per box.

The products also are great for gifting if you receive things you don’t personally love.

I will say, that if you already get FabFitFun, the type of products and quality of products are very similar. The biggest difference is that TheraBox doesn’t have any type of personalization to the boxes.

The fact that there is no personalization/customization is probably the biggest downfall of TheraBox. Everyone gets the same items every month, which for a smaller subscription box company, is to be expected!

Overall, I really enjoy TheraBox. The price is right, the product quality seems great, and while I don’t see myself committing to a long-term membership, I would totally gift a box to someone and/or just get on a quarterly basis.
